Had a customer contact me urgently requesting some repair work to a wheeelchair lift in a van for a large respite care facility north of Brisbane. Originally the wheelchair lift was slow to operate and gradually almost completely stopped on the slide section.
This is the finished product with a new wiring harness fitted and a new non-slip floor installed.
It took about 30 minutes to free up the lift to see what the problem was. In this photo you can see the poor condition of the rubber flooring a cover plate
Inside the lift on the floor of the van you can see the the broken plastic pieces of the lift deck flexible harnass that has been completely destroyed.
With the lift deck you can see more broken plastic from the flexible harness that has been jamming under the deck between the cradle causing the lift to operate very slowly.
is almost completely missing with only 5 links left out of 40. This was most likely caused by something getting caught under the deck inside the van. A closer look at the under deck flexible wiring harness clearly visible is the damaged section of wiring that was jamming under the lift. Next step is to fit a new harness
With new wiring harness fitted and the old rubber flooring removed it was time to prep the deck for some new nonslip flooring.
Non Slip Vinyl Flooring glued to the deck.
While the deck was removed from the cradle we replaced the 12 volt deck motor and fitted a new set of Nylon Rollers
Fitting the deck back on the lift with new wiring harness, nonslip flooring and restraint mounts.
Due to the wiring earthing out on the lift frame a few of the capacitors blew on the locking circuit and the lift computer had to be replaced.
The wheelchair lift is fully operational and ready to go.
